CTS Update from Ben
I've been asked countless times how CTS is going. The answer is simply that God is having his way. Just like two years ago, when God used the summer to prepare the body for a distinct phase of growth, this summer is shaping up in much the same way. At the exact halfway point (Wednesday of week 6), it seems as if the group has clicked into high gear and will reach the transition into the fall semester at an unprecedented level of maturity. God is indeed up to something.
As you know, the campus group is operating as two groups for the summer: evangelism and CTS. As Steve Humble put it last week, "Half of you are catching the fish and the other half is cleaning 'em up." Indeed, Jesus called both those who were casting their nets and those who were mending them. I say this to express my excitement at where we are as a body: at the same time as we reach out to God's lost children, we are seeing Christ formed in those who have been found. We sow, we water, and God displays his glory by causing growth.
However, the other direction in which the Lord has clearly pointed us is that of prayer, which is part of the reason I am writing this. Among many other areas in the body, the campus group (both CTS and the evangelism group) needs prayer in these days, as the song says, "like never before." I appreciate all of you who have expressed that you hold us in prayer, and humbly ask that you continue to do so.
As Billy often urges, let us not grow weary in well-doing. Let us look forward to gathering weekly to touch the throne of God. Let us draw near in confidence, knowing that Jesus ever lives to intercede on our behalf and calls us to join in.
Thanks,
Ben Hughes
